St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): St. Kitts and Nevis’ Opening Ceremony Uniform was ranked one of the best at Friday night’s event by Essence Magazine.
Designed by Yakima Daniel of Kiwie Dan Couture in Basseterre, the uniforms featured khaki trousers, a white short-sleeved button down shirt adorned with the madras colours of St. Kitts and Nevis and a burlap fedora.
St. Kitts and Nevis was one of four Caribbean countries in the list of 22 published online by Essence. The others are Jamaica, Bermuda and Haiti.
In a written comment from Rio Saturday afternoon, Manager and Press Attaché Lester Hanley told WINN FM the Team the was very happy that they were able to collaborate with the designer to produce the shirts, which were accentuated with a hat to keep the feel of St. Kitts and Nevis’ national dress.
“We’re loving the PR,” he said, indicating that Team SKN had over 20,000 hits on Facebook prior to entering the stadium, and it had continued into Saturday.
“Our countrymen and women and the world were tuned in,” Hanley wrote.
“The team appreciated being chosen as one of the top dress pieces for the opening ceremony, and it appreciates [the nod from] Essence Magazine.”
