After closing the Prison on St. Kitts and Nevis during the Commencement of his tenure, conducting several searches daily and the implementation of several security measures, HMP St. Kitts and Nevis is still plaque with the infestation of Contraband’s.
According to sources, a search was conducted at HMP St Kitts and Nevis simultaneously on Tuesday morning 20th September 2016. The searches were combined by Officers from Her Majesty Prison, SSU, and members of the RSS.
According to information, a quantity of 17 cellular phones was found ‘some being smart phones’, 12 cigarette lighters and 4 cellular phone chargers. However the source told VOSKN that several marijuana trees were uprooted from the Nevis Prison Farm.
Since the beginning of Supt Junie Hodge’s term at Her Majesty Prison, some of the security measures executed were, The searching of anyone or anything Entering the main intake hub of the Prison, Weekly Searches by the ‘Prison Emergency Response Team, Implementation of CCTV`s around the compound and the prohibition of Officers from entering the Prison with Bags.
Nevertheless the Inmates of HMP still manage to get contraband while at the institution.
